FEATI University graduates receive glowing employer feedback

FEATI University recognizes that one major role of a university is to reach out not just to its students, and surrounding community, but to the external community as well. Thus, on August 30, 2012, FEATI University’s EVP/COO Dr. Gloria Mateo-Alberto headed a contingent composed of Dean of Student Affairs Sr. Nice M. Favorito D.C., Events and Promotions Head Melanie P. Florentino, ORDE Senior Researcher Engr. Mary Anne Faderanga, College of Maritime Education Assistant to the Superintendent Deody Fabroa, and student volunteers to its adopted Barangay 352 Zone 35, District III, City of Manila.

The visit was meant to formally sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) which explains and details the quid-pro-quo between FEATI University and Barangay 352. The MOA signed on August 30th states that FEATI University shall regularly send teams for volunteer work, local outreach programs, and activities that benefit the community. In return, the adopted Barangay will open its doors to the students, faculty, and employees for these activities.

“These activities are not meant for the short-term,” says Dr. Gloria Mateo-Alberto. She continues, “We plan to contribute positively to our adopted Barangay in areas having to do with community outreach services. These areas that we consider paramount are Spiritual Services, Educational Services, Environmental Services, Safety Services, and Health and Nutritional Services. We are hopeful that as we extend help to and work with Barangay 352 we shall see positive change and renewal in its residents. We also hope that our student volunteers will learn the value of compassion and empathy as we expose them to our outreach activities.”

Signing the MOA were Dr. Mateo-Alberto and Barangay 352ChairpersonRoland F. Marino. Snacks were served after the signing and then everyone made a “tour” of the Barangay and visited some residents of the community. (AMD)
